FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Jason Stanley California Shitoryu Karate takes Gold at Nikkei Games Each year over 3,000 competitors from 5 continents come together to compete in the Nikkei Games - a 3 week event put on by the Japanese-American community hosted at the Los Angeles Sports Center. Last Sunday saw the martial arts events in which competitors tested their skills against their peers in Karate, Kendo and Judo. California Shitoryu Karate in Lake Elsinore sent a small team of 4 students to compete in the karate games, all whom were extremely competitive. The team members included Adrian & Phillip Edmundson, Nick Smith and Siobhan Gee – all coached by their instructor, Sensei Jason Stanley, 4th degree black belt. With just a few months of training, Siobhan Gee (10 years) took first place earning a gold medal in kata (a prearranged sequence of karate movements), while Nick Smith (11 years) earned the silver medal in kumite (sparring).
