Local self-defense expert Jason Stanley wants teenagers in Lake Elsinore not to have to live in fear of school. He is offering a free workshop on how to recognize potential violence, avoid it and, if needed, defend against it. Stanley says, “No one should live in fear, especially for just going to school. This kind of abuse can destroy a youngsters’ confidence and have a negative effect on every area of his or her life long after school is over.” The study reveals that 5% of students skipped at least one day of school because of safety concerns in 2003. At his martial arts school in Lake Elsinore , Mr. Stanley offers teens special confidence building programs leading all the way to black belt and beyond. Stanley explains, “Our teens are not worried about getting picked on. They know how to stay out of harm’s way and how to take care of themselves. They are learning great life skills like respect and courtesy. This alone is more than half of the battle to avoiding violence in school. The kind of confidence these kids get from the program keeps them out of trouble. We want these workshops to help other kids get the same advantage in life.” The workshop is at 11.00am , Saturday November 13th at the California Shitoryu Karate Studio.
